PixelCam and PixelCam Lite
Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 25, 2026
Wood & Wire ("we," "us," "our") developed PixelCam and PixelCam Lite (the "App"). This policy explains what happens to your data when you use either app. It applies to both editions equally, except where noted.
The short version
PixelCam does not collect, store, or transmit any of your photos, camera footage, or personal information anywhere. Everything the app does — turning the camera feed into a pixel-art preview, saving a photo, adjusting a setting — happens entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party.
Camera access
The App uses your device's camera to show a live preview and convert it into a pixel-art image in real time. This processing happens entirely in memory, on your device. Nothing from the live camera feed is recorded, stored, or sent anywhere unless you deliberately tap the shutter button to save a photo.
Photos you save
When you save a photo, it's written directly to your device's own photo gallery, inside a "PixelCam" album, using Android's standard photo storage system. We never receive a copy — the file exists only on your device (and wherever you choose to send it afterward, see "Sharing" below).
Photos saved with the "Peek" feature (an unpixelated original alongside the pixelated version) are handled identically — saved locally to your gallery, never transmitted.
Sharing
If you use the App's share button, your device's standard share sheet opens, and you choose where the photo goes (Messages, email, another app, etc.). That's a normal Android system feature acting on your instruction — we have no visibility into, or involvement with, where you send it.
App settings
The App remembers a few preferences locally on your device — your last used grid size, color palette, dithering toggle, grid line style, and front/rear camera choice — so the app opens the way you left it. This is stored using Android's standard app-preferences mechanism, stays on your device, and is never transmitted anywhere.
Permissions the App requests, and why
Camera — required to show the live preview and take photos.
Photos/Media (read and write) — required to save your photos into your device's gallery and to let you view saved photos.
Internet — declared because the app's underlying framework (a local WebView) requires it to be present, but the App makes no network requests and sends no data anywhere. There are no analytics, ads, or crash-reporting services in the App, and no servers it talks to.
Third-party services
None. The App includes no analytics SDKs, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporting, and no third-party tracking of any kind.
Data sharing and sale
We don't share or sell your data, because we don't collect any.
Children's privacy
The App does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children, since it doesn't collect personal information from anyone at all.
PixelCam vs. PixelCam Lite
The two editions behave identically with respect to privacy. PixelCam Lite adds a small watermark to saved images and limits some creative options; neither of those differences involves collecting any additional data.
